Clover Homes, Inc.

Clover homes, Inc. owns luxury town homes in Indiana. The company only has a few units built to date and continues to construct new units based on demand from the community. When a customer seeks to rent$/$ buy a new townhome from Clover, the owner will notify his construction company and they will begin to work on the unit. Clover has had difficulty satisfying new customers due to errors in estimated time before the new unit will be completed. The units for a few tenants were not ready by the date agreed upon as it took longer for the units to be completed than expected. Each unit varies to some extent based on the features desired by the future tenants$/$ owners.

Clover realizes these errors in estimating time to completion will lead to further customer dissatisfaction and will prevent the young company from attracting new customers in the future. The owner wants help on applying Six Sigma to improve the process of estimating time. How can DMAIC be used to improve the accuracy of estimating time?
