Socrates was a Greek philosopher and teacher.He believed in asking questions in a way that encouraged students to think deeply about a belief, problem, or issue.One of his most famous students was Plato, who became a philosopher in his own right.

The Socratic Method- Drawing Out Answers

How did Socrates "draw out" answers?He asked questions in a way that urged students to challenge their pre-conceived ideas about a host of issues.The purpose of the Socratic Method is to:

• Consider all aspects of a situation.
• Make sure we are thinking critically and as objectively as possible.
• Challenge assumptions and thought processes.
