Ak1BAk2C The initial concentration of A is given as 100moles/m3, rates k1=5 and k2=0.5 in per hour. The concentration equations for each species with respect to time are given by; CA(t)=CA0e(k1+k2)tCB(t)=(k1+k2)k1CA0[1e(k1+k2)t]CC(t)=(k1+k2)k2CA0[1e(k1+k2)t] (a) Plot the concentration profiles of A,B and C with time (time increments- 0.05 hour) (5 pts) (b) If B is the desired product, at what time will its production be maximized? ( 6 pts) (c) Evaluate the selectivity at this point. (2 pts) (d) Evaluate the yield of B and C at this point. (2 pts) (e) Also, solve this problem using probabilistic methods (Simulated Annealing or Genetic Algorithm) and compare your solutions in parts (b), (c) and (d). (10 pts) Selectivity = Desired product / Undesired product Yield = Product formed / Reactant consumed
