Upon completion of this assignment, students have

$1.$ Identify risks and hazards.

$2.$ Rate the hazard

$3.$ Understand that most fire laws and regulations are reactive.

Instructions$/$Details

a$.$ Working in teams of three $(3)$ will choose a Designated Substance Table $1$ of Ontario Regulation $490/09($example: Asbestos$)$ and respond to the following:

$$ Investigate how the substance is used or created, ie$.$ Include specific tasks of how the substance is used and $/$or what it is used for

$$ What are the risks $($health effects, include any other risks to the environment, equipment, property or buildings$)?$ Include the potential routes of exposure.

$$ Include any vulnerabilities, ie$.$ Workers that might be vulnerable $($why or why not and how$)$

$$ Rate the consequences of exposure $($extreme$,$ major, medium, minor$)$ include the rational for your rating.

b$.$ The student will prepare a $10$min PowerPoint presentation. Use of visual aids $($pictures$,$ graphs, videos, etc.$)$ should be included in your presentation
