Over the last several weeks, we have explored the layers involved in addressing the clinical and cultural formulations. In future courses, skills and competencies will be added to fully create the treatment formulation. Note: We will not be considering treatment in this course.
As earlier noted, Canadian Counsellors do not diagnose, and thus you will not need to buy/access the DSM-5 Manual in the MACP program. If, however you do choose to mention DSM classifications in your writing, please use classifications from DSM-5, rather than from previous editions. Note, for example, that OCD and PTSD are not listed with Anxiety Disorders in DSM-5.
Consider from a BPS and CRSJ perspective what factors would impact adolescents struggling with anxiety and depression (research a few articles for what factors impact adolescents). Explain the important components/structure to include in a case conceptualization as you consider the course materials.
