When you conduct the research, find out what the job requires in terms of education, licensure, training, internship experience, salary, etc. Then find someone who has this job so you can interview them. This is an exceptional opportunity for you to network with someone in the field and confirm if you have the right impression of this job and that you are preparing the right path to get where they are. 


Step 2: Interview someone working as a flight attendant. This is the perfect opportunity to talk to someone and network within the industry of a flight attendant. If you're not sure what you'd like to do as a career, interview someone in a position/industry that has always interested you. The interview may be completed in person, Zoom, by telephone, online or email. Please be considerate at the interview: dress to impress, be on time, come prepared, and be polite! Develop 10 questions to ask your interviewee. Consider such topics such as job duties, education, work hours, travel requirements, professional licensing requirements, certifications, or training. Ask the following Communication-related questions in addition to your 10 questions: What communication skills (ex: public speaking, small group, interpersonal, etc.) do you use most often in this job? What is one communication skill you would you like to strengthen to help you in your job and how would it help? On the job, what kinds of people do you communicate with most often? Describe the communication environment within your company. How does it support you? What improvements would you make? 


Step 3: Create of PowerPoint or Google slides to guide the viewer through your speech. Use the "Screen Capture" feature on Canvas Studio so that we can see you (in the corner like I record my lectures) AND your slide show simultaneously. Your slide show should have a title slide and then follow with images (not text) about your experience - show the viewer, through images, what you are talking about. 


Step 4: Write a "Thank You" card (not an email) to the person you interviewed thanking them for their time and effort. Please remember to send the thank you note the same week as the interview. Keep in mind, this person took time out of the day to help you with this assignment and who knows, if you do your part well, something else might be in store for you in addition to your grade. Remember, this is an opportunity to network with someone in your field of interest - this is priceless! I have had students receive job offers and internship opportunities for completing this assignment.
