Students, in a team, will develop a Risk Assessment, BIA, and replication strategy for a Bank in Lebanon. Each team will provide a final written report and a PowerPoint presentation. Students should read the project sections very carefully and abide by the instructions.
The Youth Lebanese Bank (YLB) is one of the Lebanese leaders in the Banking sector. YLB main location is in Downtown and has a total of two Head Offices respectively located in Hamra and Tripoli Tall, as well as three branches located in Verdun, Saida, and Achrafieh. YLB backup location is in Jbeil. The data is replicated in real-time from the main location to the backup location in Jbeil and the Bank decided to backup its data storage on Azure cloud. Disaster Recovery technologies are adopted by YLB to ensure a full synchronization between the main and backup disaster recovery site. YLB location makes it vulnerable to the political and economic situation in the region. In addition, YLB has a good online presence and is therefore subject to cyber security attacks.
Draw one simplified diagram which contains the following items and briefly describe the different components used in the diagram. Refer to topic 2 for the network diagram.
a- Represent the network connection between the main location in DT and the backup location in Jbeil.
Note: The two locations are connected using two redundant WAN links and replicated traffic between the two locations is optimized and encrypted.
b- Represent the network connection between the three branches and the main location in DT.
Represent the network connection between the three branches and the backup location in Jbeil.
Note: The branches connect to the main and backup locations using one WAN link only (no link redundancy).
c- Represent the network connection between the two Head offices and the main location in DT.
Represent the network connection between the two Head offices and the backup location in Jbeil.
Note: The two Head offices connect to the main location using redundant WAN links and the two Head offices connect to the backup location using one WAN link only (no link redundancy).
d- Represent the VMWare Hypervisor-based and VMs-based replication between the main location in DT and the backup location in Jbeil. You need to include in your diagram two hypervisors with VMs in the main location and one hypervisor with VMs in the backup location (connected to the core switches). Explain how the replication occurs between VMWare hypervisors.
e- Represent the Oracle Database replication between the main location in DT and the backup location in Jbeil using Oracle Dataguard. You need to include in your diagram two Oracle Databases in the main location and one Oracle Database in the backup location (connected to the core switches). Explain how the replication occurs between Oracle Databases.
f- Represent the SAN Storage replication between the main location in DT and Azure cloud location. You need to include to your diagram two SAN storages in the main location (connected to the core switch) and one SAN storage in the cloud location. Explain how the replication occurs between the SAN storages.
