Suggested Topics for Microeconomics Report

The following is a list of suggested topics you might research in conjunction with your required economic report. This list is presented to help you select a topic but does not represent all of the topics that could be explored. A topic of your own choice - something of interest to you is preferable. Particular attention will be paid to your understanding of the issue. Be sure to cite at least one source; if based totally on independent knowledge, please indicate.

• Mergers and acquisitions Are they good business practice? What impact do these have on consumer choice? Do the laws favor big business? Are all monopolies bad?

• International Trade What impact will the increase in tariffs and trade wars have on producer and consumer decision-making? How will Brexit affect either the US or Qatari economy? Or will it?

• Energy What impact is the movement towards alternative energy sources having on the economy and households? On the petroleum industry spending and capital investment? Are solar farms and wind farms in our feasible? What about their placement?
