Sunday, February 12, 2023 MIS 640 Final Exam Case Study EXAMPLE: You are a consultant for a client who wants to start an online business selling tomato products. The client owns a farm in New Jersey and grows tomatoes. As part of your business, you will be writing up a formal report/ proposal (requirements for the report are listed at the bottom of this page). Here is some of the background information that will be helpful in writing up the report. Campbell Soups Inc. originated in Camden, New Jersey. New Jersey is known as the Garden State; and, it has some of best soils and weather for growing tomatoes and sweetcorn. A startup company located in Burlington County, New Jersey wants to grow tomatoes and sell on organic gourmet tomato juice and posto souce that will be marketed along the Washington/Boston 95 corridor. The owner has a 105 acre farm with 100 acres allocated to raising the main ingredient- tomatoes. Each quart of the juice can be marketed and sold for $7.50. Herbs, vegetables, and spices will add .75 cost to each quart. Operational production costs, labor, and packaging costs are estimated to be $1.55 per quart. Manufacturing equipment amounts to $175,000 which will be considered a capital investment and it is anticipated that it will be depreciated over five years. There are already two large barns on the property which will be used to accommodate the manufacturing facility. Conversion costs and installation of the equipment into the barn facilities are not considered material costs. No permits will be required due to the nature of the farming activity; and, because sales will ONLY occur from the farming facility and over the internet, regulation is minimal. Your task is to utilize the knowledge you attained throughout the course to see if this project is viable and how you would market the new product from now and into the future. More specifically, apply the general knowledge that you acquired from the team Website project and from general information systems to help the new startup organize and operate its business. The following questions should be addressed but are not exclusive. Is the project feasible (profit/costs projections)? The technology savvy owner wants to know how Google, Amazon, and Facebook/instagram/YouTube (i.e., Social Media Marketing platforms) can contribute to the financial success and viability of this company startup. Thus, how can Google be utilized to support, document, and enhance the business endeavor? Similarly, how can Amazon be utilized to help sell the product and organize the business and minimize technology investments? Other things that could be addressed include: Facebook and the other social media platforms- why and how can they complement and online business and be used to promote the product. Other things that may be investigated or touched upon in your report- what about cloud computing, Saas, or Paas? What data should be stored? Where will it be stored and why? How can the data and information be utilized in the future?abstract or table of contents please). Organize your report into appropriate sections- Introduction, Costs and Profitability, Problems & Solutions, and Conclusion. 2) Analyze the problem and create tables, charts, or other depictions to help the owners visualize the profitability, problems and solutions. Make sure to include captions and refer to your tables/charts in your text
