Take the wooden ramp and measure the length.
Length (L)=1.52m
Divide the length up in to four equal parts. Place three pieces of tape to separate these
parts, labeling them A, B, C. Also, place two pieces of tape L4 and L2 away from the
ramp, labeled E and F. Place the ramp on the angle measurement device so that the ramp
is at a 5 degree incline.
A=.38m
B=.76m
C=1.14m
D=1.52m
E=1.9m
F=2.28m
Place the foam ball at the top of the ramp. One person should release the ball and
should time how long it takes it to get to the second tape mark on the floor (F). The other
two should time how long it takes to get to B, and to the bottom of the ramp (D). Repeat
4 times and average:
=5, foam ball
What was the average speed of the ball after it left the ramp? Vaveave=2L5t=
What was the average acceleration over the length of the ramp? aave=
(Assume that the velocity at the bottom of the ram is Vave)
