Task 1 - Math in everyday life Name: Your task is to find real-life examples of linear equations in everyday life. Your job is to find and compare two different linear equations in the same category. For example, it can be comparing how much you pay for monthly memberships, subscriptions, or plans. Here are some examples you can find. 1) Monthly membership (Gym membership, rock climbing membership) 2) Monthly subscriptions (Amazon prime, Youtube prime, Netflix, etc.) 3) Monthly plans (phone plans, internet, cable plans) To do this task, you need to find some actual information about the monthly prices. Research some information you want to find for this task. 1) Write the monthly price of the two price plans 2) Find and write the equation of both equations in y = mx + b (b would be an initial price or down-payment if there is any) 3) Find the price of the plan/membership for 1, 6, and 12 months. 4) Which one would you choose and why? 5) Graph your equations using desmos. Do they intersect? If yes, what's the P.O.I?Here is an example of the sample assignment Title: Comparison between two memberships: Apple Music and Spotify Music 1) Price for Applei'Spotify music Apple Music $14.991month Spotify Music $15.991'm0nth 2) Equation for Appie music 3; = 14.99x Equation for Spotify music 5; = 15.99x 3) Price for 1, 6, and 12 months. Price for Apple music for 1 month 14.99 X 1 = $14.99 8 months 14.99 x 8 = $89.94 12 months 14.99 x 12 = $179.88 Price for Spotify music for 1 month 15.99 x 1 = $15.99 6 months 15.99 X 6 = $95.94 12 months 15.99 x 12 = $191.88 4) I would choose Spotify music because even though it costs $1 more per month, the application is more intuitive and easier to use. 5) | used desmos for graphing. No they do not intersect as Spotify will always be more expensive. Blue = Spotify Red = Appie Music To do this, 1) go to desmos.com -> Graphing Calculator -> Type two different equations in y = mx + b Click on the wrench symbol on the top right corner and change the numbers for y-axis (I would recommend -50 to 50, -'lOO to 100 or -200 to 200, as much as you can see the difference in the y-values) Click share graph on the top right corner, Export image, and insert your image in Google Docs by clicking Insert - Image - Upload from Computer Now do your own example.
