1.Plan presentation
The first part of this assessment task requires you to plan a presentation of 15 minutes duration.
Your presentation should commence with an introduction regarding the purpose of the presentation, as well as an outline of the content you will cover and the desired outcome of the presentation. You should also allow time for questions, which may be during or at the end of the presentation depending on the type of presentation you choose to provide
To plan for your presentation, consider all of the items below and then complete the presentation plan checklist provided to you by your assessor.
To complete the checklist, address all of the following:
Presentation topic
Choose a presentation topic, which may be one of the following:
Occupation of interest
Your presentation could focus on an occupation that is of interest to you and that a student studying your course could pursue following the completion of their course. Your presentation should include a range of information about the occupation/s. For example, key roles and responsibilities, key skills required to complete the job, job outlook both in Australia and overseas, training required and average salaries.
Topic of interest
Your presentation could focus on a topic that you are studying in your course and that is of particular interest to you. Your presentation should address key concepts related to the topic. For example, if you are studying marketing, your topic could be the effectiveness of digital marketing and include a range of information about its purpose, contrast with other forms of marketing and statistics about its effectiveness. Similarly, if you are studying human resources, you may choose to develop a presentation about the use of social media for recruitment.
Your Presentation must follow the structure below:
Introduction ( 1 Minute)
-What are you going to tell the audience.
Body (7 minutes) For Example:
-why you chose or decided to study in Marketing.
-What you have learn new in studying marketing. -What topic in marketing you like most.
-What you have enjoyed more while studying marketing.
Conclusion ( 2 minutes)
-Recap any/all the important points from your presentation. -Summarise your presentation.
-Give audience members a chance to ask question.
-Collect feedback forms.
As you will have to provide a presentation of 10 minutes, you should make sure that you will be able to access enough information and prepare sufficient material for your presentation.
Presentation requirements
Assume that the audience for your presentation is a diverse group of individuals (female and male and culturally diverse, including those whose first language is not English) who do not have a general knowledge of the subject matter you are going to
present. Consider how you will the characteristics of your audience into account when making your presentation. This should also include identifying culturally appropriate communication skills.
As your presentation is to be conducted on-site at your studying location, you must also consider the location and the resources that are available to you to conduct your presentation. Your assessor will ensure that you are provided with this information as part of this assessment task.
Presentation format/strategy/delivery method
Next consider the best method of presenting your topic to the identified target group. Consider options such as discussions, oral presentation, demonstration and case studies. In addition, consider the most suitable presentation format and delivery methods such as a verbal presentation only, a presentation incorporating video and/or visuals or a presentation using storyboards. Your chosen format/strategy/delivery method will also need to take into account the audience, as well as resources and location advised by your assessor.
Presentation aids
As your presentation should be engaging and informative, consider presentation aids and techniques that can make your presentation interesting. For example, you may choose to use paper-based materials or a white board or a PowerPoint presentation using images and/or videos and audio recordings. This will also depend on the resources advised to you by your assessor.
You should include at least one presentation aid in your presentation as outlined above, as well as practical examples to illustrate the information you provide to add interest to the presentation.
Communication techniques
As you will need to use effective communication techniques during the presentation, consider the following for inclusion in your presentation:
A planned opener to engage audience interest
Planned techniques to ensure continuing audience interest throughout the presentation - you should identify and use at least one.
Presentation helpers
The final part of the presentation planning requires you to assume that you need assistance with your presentation, for example, someone to introduce you or by handing out materials you have developed. You will be required to brief this person (your assessor) to assist you in your presentation. Advise them of this role within the presentation plan template, ensuring your instructions are clear and easy to follow.
When you have decided on your presentation topic, considered target audience characteristics and the most appropriate presentation format/strategy/delivery, complete the Presentation Plan Template and send it via email to your assessor. Your assessor will review your work and provide you with approval to proceed to preparing your presentation in the next task.
2.Prepare presentation
Once you have developed your plan for the presentation and your assessor has given their approval to proceed, you are required to prepare the presentation. This will include researching the topic you have chosen and preparing your
presentation according to the presentation strategy and format you have chosen, as well as the presentation aids that you have identified as most suitable for your target audience. Send the presentation aids via email to your assessor prior to the presentation.
Make sure you practice your presentation prior to delivery.
3.Develop survey
As you are also required to evaluate your presentation, you must develop a short survey to be completed by the attendees. The purpose of the survey is to gain feedback on your presentation. You should include a minimum of five questions. At least one question should seek feedback on participants understanding of the ideas and concepts you presented. In order to facilitate analysis, your survey should also include a rating scale that allows participants to easily rate your performance.
Print the required number of copies of your survey to provide to your assessor and students at the end of the presentation.
4.Deliver the presentation
The next part of the assessment requires you to deliver your presentation, ensuring that the person that you have identified as having a role in the presentation performs the activity identified for them.
Open your presentation with the opener you have planned to engage the audience.
Following this you should introduce your presentation, including its purpose, outline of content to be delivered and desired outcome/s.
You should also advise your audience that they will be able to ask questions during/at the end of the presentation according to your presentation plan.
During the presentation you will be required to:
Clearly deliver the presentation content according to the presentation plan and in the time specified.
Use the presentation aids and materials you have prepared.
Use relevant and appropriate non-verbal communication including gestures and eye contact.
Use culturally appropriate communication skills as identified in your presentation plan.
Monitor participants' reaction to your presentation to ensure their ongoing interest and understanding and use planned engagement technique/s (as identified in the presentation plan) at a suitable point to assist with continuing engagement.
Summarise key points throughout the presentation to aid participant understanding.
Provide a conclusion to the presentation.
Provide opportunities for questions and respond as required.
At the end of the presentation to the assessor and students, you will need to provide each person with a survey to complete regarding your presentation. You will need to ensure that this is completed and returned to you immediately after the presentation, as you will analyse these surveys in final part of this assessment.
5.Evaluate presentation
The final part of this assessment requires you to analyse the feedback from the surveys and develop an evaluation report to send to your assessor via email. Analyse and report on the completed surveys from your presentation by sending a short email to your assessor addressing the following questions:
a.What was the overall feedback from your presentation?
b.What positive comments were made, if any?
c.What suggestions for improvement were made, if any?
d.Based on the feedback, what aspects of your presentation would you change, including changes to ideas and concepts presented?
You should also attach copies of scanned completed surveys to the email to support findings as documented in your email.
I don't really understand the question. are they asking for whatever presentation topic we choose? can I make a presentation about cafe?
