SolarHope Energies is a renewable energy provider that has a history of supplying regional Australia with solar energy solutions. Whilst, SolarHope is a relatively stable organisation that has serviced its customer-base well, there is a growing interest amongst members of the Board to initiate a multi-billion-dollar investment and expand operations into larger-scale renewable energy production through industrial-scale solar farms due to community demand, rising costs in fossil fuel powered electricity generation, and their founders' 'sustainable and inclusive world' ethos which drives their overall strategic goal to help Build a sustainable Australia, one region at a time'. A site has been located between Horsham and Laharum in Western Victoria Western Victoria has been selected as a possible location as it has the appropriate conditions for solar energy production, is sparsely populated but close enough to major centres to access a workforce, land is relatively inexpensive and is reasonably close to distribution networks that would limit costs associated with building the appropriate infrastructure for transmission. The Board of Solar Hope Energies believes they have the technological expertise, business acumen and value-driven vison to achieve their goals but a few questions need to be answered before SolarHope wishes to commit the resources to upscaling their operations in this region. The Board has identified a number of important, and possibly project defining areas of investigation that need to be addressed before the project goes into the planning stage. They are acutely aware that these may not be fully representative of all the key issues, nor are they convinced that these are the substantive issues critical to determine the viability of the project. They do not have the resources, or expertise in-house to determine the viability of the project and that is why they have approached your consultancy agency to assist. You are one of a number of firms that have been identified as having the skill and experience to successfully complete the project. You are in competition with these firms.
