THE CLOUD We hear a lot about "The Cloud" but what exactly is it? This week we are going to look at it and discuss the importance of it with respect to business, both big and small. Most students that I deal with think of the cloud as email, sharing files and folders and collaboration. What about sharing resources, servers, programs and storage? What are the security risks? How much does it cost? What is SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS? What is a dynamic cloud? What are the advantages and the disadvantages of the cloud? How exactly does the cloud work? Once you do, come back and let's have a nice long discussion on what you believe the cloud is and what we need to know about it. Think BIG in terms of businesses, not individual users using the cloud. As usual, don't be afraid to step outside the box and play Devil's advocate. Keep an open mind and realize that even the experts can't give a definitive answer to the question "What is the Cloud?"
