The earliest enduring notice of a public authority accused of inspecting government consumption is a reference to the Auditor of the Exchequer in England in 1314. The Auditors of the Imprest were laid out under Queen Elizabeth I in 1559 with formal obligation regarding reviewing Exchequer installments. This framework slowly slipped by and in 1780, Commissioners for Auditing the Public Accounts were delegated by resolution. From 1834. the Commissioners worked couple with the Comptroller of the Exchequer, who was accused of controlling the issuance of assets to the public authority
