The effect of an absolute or conditional discharge is as follows

a) The offender is found guilty but no conviction is entered on their record

b)The offender id found guilty but he/she cannot be sentenced to more than 2 years of imprisonment

c) A court determines that the offender did commit the offence but that he/she should not be found guilty

d) The accused is declared innocent and set free in the community
