The effects and opportunities of the COVID-19 pandemic are still significant globally for that matter in Ghana. While some well-resourced countries have succeeded in managing the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic on their economy, the less endowed countries are struggling to cope with the situation. The effects of the pandemic can be felt in economic, political, social and religious aspects of the Ghanaian population. One of such effects is evident in the mobilization of government revenue to meet increasing demand for essential public goods. To mitigate this effect, the government of Ghana is trying to institute a new tax on electronic transaction to be called the E-levy. The new tax bill was met with fierce resistance by the opposition members of the Parliament. This resistance resulted in several minutes of physical fight among the "Honourable" members. The resistance was wild spread where other political and civil society groups have demonstrated their displeasure about the bill. To the opposers of this bill, Ghanaians are overburdened with taxes, government has nothing to show for the billions of monies borrowed in recent time, minerals of the country have been sold without much to show for them. The Parliament is yet to approve the E-levy bill hence the leadership of the House contracts PONY Consult to conduct a study to ascertain the tolerance of the E-levy among Ghanaian tax payers. The House wants to know the effects of perceived political corruption on tax tolerance among Ghanaian tax payers. The Consult is also tasked to reveal the significance of other factors such as income level, education, and sector of employment of the tax payer in this study. assuming there are 6,000 taxpayers in Ghana. As the principal research officer of PONY Consult: a. Formulate a research topic and state the dependent and independent variables. [4 marks] b. State the general objective and two specific objectives for this study. [3 marks] c. Based on the specific objectives identified, state two research hypotheses, both the null and the alternative. d. Identify the type of research approach to be adopted and justify it. [4 marks] [3 marks] e. What is the population of your proposed study and the sampling technique(s) to be adopted in selecting a sample size of 756? Justify the sampling technique(s) to be used.
