The evolution of the U.S. healthcare system has resulted in a system that looks and functions drastically different than it did in its humble beginnings of almshouses. Every U.S. President, since Theodore Roosevelt has attempted some sort of healthcare reform, such as President Johnson's passage of Medicare and Medicaid and President Obama's passage of the ACA.

• Research the different reform efforts by Presidents, other than Johnson and Obama, that incrementally shaped the healthcare system we have today. (This can include reform efforts that were not successfully implemented or have been overturned after implementation).
  • Describe what the proposed reform was intended to address.
  • Evaluate the hurdles that were faced in getting the reform passed and/or implemented.
  • Discuss whether the reform is still reflected in our current healthcare system.
