The following cases will require you to build on the knowledge you have gained in this unit's readings. You will find these Case Projects at the end of Chapters 7 and 8 in your textbook. Case Project 7-3: Captive Portal APs Case Project 8-2: Predictive Site Survey Application What do I have to do? Create a Word document in which you complete the requirements and fully answer all questions in each Case Project as outlined in the text. Note: You don't need to have a one-page paper for each case as specified in the case description. Your focus should be on addressing the case and not on the length of the paper. Conducting a Site Survey So far in the course, you have reported on potential radio frequency behaviors, wireless distribution systems, and Mobile IP use on the UTU campus. In this unit, you will research site surveys and conduct a site survey for UTU, using your own environment as an example. Research examples of site surveys, many of which can be found on the Internet and contain valuable insight into how a site survey should be performed. Choose from among the sample documents that are available online, or pick a similar style or approach for this project. What do I have to do? Perform a site survey of your local public library or any enclosed public space that you have access to. The building you choose will exemplify a typical building found on a college campus, such as UTU. Write a one to two page double-spaced report that includes the following. An introduction on the requirements that the site survey should address. Factors that would interfere with wireless signal transmission. Challenges in setting up a wireless network in a library building (or your chosen building). Structural issues that would impact wireless operations. Write your report as if you were presenting to the client. Include an introduction and a conclusion, and make sure that what you are presenting is clear, detailed, accurate, and free of errors. Be sure to fully answer all questions and prompts, and provide justification for your answers when necessary.
