The front-of-house (FOH) event staff is the face of any public assembly venue. They interact directly with the guests and help ensure a positive event experience.

You are the new event manager at an NFL football stadium which seats 72,000 for football games. It also hosts 1-2 concerts per year. The stadium's suite/club level is also used for smaller meetings and events during the off-season. Unfortunately, your venue has experienced some recent negative attention due to poor guest services during events. The NFL team owner is planning to bid for a future NFL Super Bowl. In order to best position the venue, the general manager has asked you to design a new training program for the event staff.

Assignment This assignment is if you were preparing a proposal for the GM of the venue. Before designing your training plan, consider the following:

• Which group of FOH employees are you designing a plan for? (Must address at least 2 groups.)
• What do they need to know to work at your venue?
• What do they need to know to do their job?
• What skills do they need to be effective at their job?
• Put yourself in their shoes ... what would you want?
• As a manager/leader, what can you do to make it interesting and worthwhile?

Your plan should address the following issues, at a minimum:

1. What topics will you cover?
2. Who will conduct the training?
3. When will it be conducted?
4. Where will it be conducted?
5. How will you relay the content (i.e. PowerPoint presentations, lectures, activities, etc.)?
6. Is attendance mandatory? Will the staff members who attend be paid for their time in training?
7. How long do you expect the training to last?
8. Class size?
9. Plans for continued training?
