The internal auditing department of Smart Eco Vet (Pty) Ltd, a company that manufactures and sells a wide variety of natural medicine for animals, animal foods, pet products, general supplements, and hygiene products, has just started the planning phase of an operational audit in the marketing department. Given the highly competitive nature of the industry and the developments in online purchasing and social media marketing, the marketing department plays an important role in the growth and success of Smart Eco Vet (Pty) Ltd. The marketing department consists of the following subsections, each with its own manager:

the marketing research and application development section

the social media and email marketing section

the promotions and product release section

the retail marketing and online purchases section

the client services section

Interviews are being scheduled with the different sectional managers to obtain information on the functioning of each of these sections.

1.1 Prepare a list of the background information that should be obtained for the purpose of this audit and illustrate each item of information identified with an example.

1.2 Formulate ten (10) questions to put to the head of the marketing research and application development section to obtain information on the economic and efficient functioning of the section. For each question formulated, explain how the information obtained will be used to evaluate either economy or efficiency.
