Question:
The learning objective is to identify the function of the part, how GD&T can be used to convey that functionality, and how to control and inspect for the geometric controls.
SELECTED OBJECT IS 15 cm, FLAT RULER
Part 1
Select an object from your everyday life that GD&T and Datums could "Legally" be applied to.
Part 2
Identify two primary functions for this part. (e.g. must assemble to other parts (s), smooth rolling, must not wobble when placed on a flat surface). Briefly describe the functions (maximum of 200 words).
Part 3
Assign a minimum of two geometric tolerances, GD&T, that are "Legal".(including at least one that requires the use of datums) to the part to ensure that the part will successfully achieve its two primary functions. Assign datums as necessary. Create a sketch to show where the GD&T controls, and Datum(s) will be applied. Assign physical sizes and geometric tolerances, however you will not be marked on the magnitude of the tolerances.
Part 4
Briefly describe (maximum of 250 words) on how you controlled and inspected your object in order to verify your part meets the "Legal" GD&T controls, Datum(s), Sizes, and Coordinate Tolerances that you applied.
