The limited number of therapists who are qualified to deliver the New Age treatment protocol complicates comparisons of Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) and New Age therapies in order to demonstrate that better results are obtained from CBT.Our solution for this was to collect data from parents who were already undergoing therapy within each of these therapeutic styles.We contacted the Council for CBT and the Network for New Age Therapies and received complete lists of 1200 patients from the five state areas near our university.We identified 100 potential participants from each list, being careful to include males and females, as well as those being treated for depression, anxiety and stress relief from each list.For all of those selected, this was their first therapeutic intervention and all of them were at least 30 years old.These persons were sent descriptions of the purpose of the research and asked for the researchers to have permission to obtain treatment records and evaluations from their therapists.We were delighted to have over 20 agree to participate from each group, although nearly all of the CBT patients were males being treated for depression and nearly all of the New Age patients were females being treated for anxiety.In addition, nearly all of the CBT patients had treatments once a week, and New Age patients had daily treatment sessions.We were careful to select patients who had all 6 months of therapy.Treatment records were reviewed and a composite "treatment success" score was composed.The results showed that the New Age treatment led to better
