The police arrived at 7 p.m. and found that the shades were down on all the windows and that the doors were locked. The arresting officer testified that defendant was wearing slacks, no shirt or shoes, and that there was no blood on him. The police found that the victim's torn and bloodstained dress had been ripped from her and that her clothes, including her panties out of which the crotch had been ripped, were scattered throughout various rooms of the house. Her slip with the straps torn off was discovered under the bed in the master bedroom and there were bloody footprints matching the size of the victim's leading from the master bedroom to Victoria's room and there was blood in almost every room including the kitchen, the floor of which appeared to have been mopped.
