The professional field I am interested in attempting to get into is simply management. Whether it is within the company I am currently at or a company I start from scratch. I plan to take everything from what I learn here at UAGC to my goal position I intend to reach for.
I became interested in this position for a few reasons, but the main one is I want to give people a chance. When I started at Quest Diagnostics I was merely 19 years old, I had just quit my front desk management position at a Marriott hotel and wanted a better job. I wanted a better life. I had applied for a job at Quest before but was not given the opportunity to show the team what I could bring. I had an interview one more, and I will admit I was not ready for it. I had been at a party the night before and had woken up, brushed my hair and joined the meeting. Later that evening, I received the call saying you got the job. It took me almond a year to become full time, and when my manager had told me lets get you signed on fully I was relieved. I wanted nothing more than to be full time and get the great benefits. I have worked here since 2020 all because some man wanted to take a chance on me. I plan to take a chance on others as well.
I think the 1 thing that is most exciting to me is interacting with people. I love interacting with others, especially if its giving advice or simply telling them hey youre doing a great job. Being able to give people that peace of mind is what I thrive for, because its all ive ever wanted as well.
I think the main areas in my field and goal field that I would like to know more about is communication, time management and the requirements it takes to obtain the position. Is a degree needed? Do you have to have a certain amount of years under your belt? How can someone manage time, but also manage an entire group of people? I feel it may just be the basics. But it is a started.
Question1: Respond to at least two of your classmates by commenting on their posts with constructive comments that move the conversation forward. Though two replies are the basic expectation for class discussions, for deeper engagement and learning you are encouraged to provide responses to additional students and to respond to any comments or questions from other students. In addition, responding to the instructors questions or comments is mandatory. Continuing to engage with peers and the instructor will further the conversation and provide you with opportunities to demonstrate your content expertise, critical thinking, and real-world experiences with the discussion topics
