The regulation I was given for this module is Medicare Conditions of Participation (CoPs) and Conditions of Coverage (CfCs). These are defined as regulations that set a minimum health and safety standard for all hospitals that participate in the Medicare program. These regulations are the foundation for ensuring the proper health and safety standards are the foundation in place to help improve quality and to protect the health and safety of its beneficiaries put into place by the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Service (CMS)(Conditions for Coverage (CFCS) & Conditions of Participation (COPS) | Guidance Portal, n.d.) . CMS also makes sure that the accreditation requirements of organizations it has recognized (through a procedure known as "deeming") meet or surpass the Medicare requirements stated in the CoPs and CfCs (Conditions for Coverage (CFCS) & Conditions of Participation (COPS) | CMS, n.d.). By providing patients with active treatment plans, a treatment team, and the coordination of services to deliver individualized patient care, complying with the CoPs and CfCs has contributed to improving healthcare.
