The role of micro, medium and small-scale enterprises (MSMEs) in the economic development of Ghana cannot be underestimated. MSMEs account for about 92% of businesses in Ghana and contribute approximately 70\% to the country's Gross Domestic Product (GDP). They also create employment to many Ghanaians and serve as a major tool for poverty alleviation. In spite of the important roles of MSMEs in the development of Ghana's economy, the recent Covid-19 pandemic and Ukraine war have affected the profitability and operations of many MSMEs, leading to the collapse of some of them. Some have argued that the collapse of these MSMEs is the result of poor implementation of corporate governance principles and practices in these enterprises. These principles include business registration, record keeping, management structure, business Plan and auditing (both internal and external). Implementation of good corporate governance principles and practices can have positive impact on the performance of MSMEs in Ghana. As a student of Research Methods, you have been asked to conduct research to understand the underlying reasons why there is poor implementation of the corporate governance principles in MSMEs in the Ga South Municipality. Design your research project by responding to the following questions. a. Formulate a suitable research topic for the study [2 marks] b. State a research objective for the study [2 marks] c. State a research question for the study [2 marks] d. Identify the type of research approach to be adopted and justify it [4 marks] e. Specify your research population [2 marks] f. Specify your sample size and the sampling strategy you will adopt in your research. Justify your choice of the sampling strategy over others [4 marks] g. Indicate the method (s) you will use to collect data. Justify why that method(s) is more suitable for data collection over other methods [4 marks]
