The two primary types of data are transactional and analytical. Transactional data encompasses all of the data contained within a single business process or unit of work, and its primary purpose is to support dally operational tasks. Analytical data encompasses all organizational data, and its primary purpose is to support the performing of managerial analysis tasks.
