Think about an industry or an occupations that interests you Utilizing LinkedIn is strongly recommended since you are going to have access to LinkedIn Navagaitor Put together a list of 30-50 people who might accept your invitation for an informal interview (keep your fingers crossed that 7 might agree to meet with you) Make sure you add at least 10 of those leads to SalesForce.com (You will be given access to an account) Give yourself and the interviewee enough time to conduct the interview (hint- if you wait till last minute or closer to the end of semester you are going to have a hard time getting anyone to sit down with you) You must send emails (and keep records of them) to set up the appointment (you will need these info if they have no business card to share with you) Conduct a 20-30 minutes interview finding out about the industry and the interviewee, Steps taken to lead to this position, day-to-day activities, challenges, rewards, pros and cons, trends impacting the industry, vision for the future of the industry etc. (hint- go to the interview with some prepared questions and ready to explore other topics as they come up, and make sure to take notes) Do your best to complete all the interviews at least two weeks before the due date as it becomes almost impossible to do so the closer we get to the end of semester (couple class time during semester will be provided to conduct your interviews). You must follow up by an email] hand written note/Linkedln. . . to thank the interviewee (keep records of them) Write up the report (maximum of 15 pages typed/ double spaced). This report must include a 2L3_p_age_s_mn_1a_ry of the highlights of each interview, proofs of your follow-up communication and your reeeu'on of this assigm (what you learned, what you would do differently, whether you are still interested in the industry/occupation, the best advice learned. . .).
