This has been a great discussion thread in both of my classes! Thank you all for your willingness to engage! We definitely have a few different beliefs about licensure and competency. In my other class, someone mentioned Aptitude - can anyone be a competent social worker because they have been trained to do so?

Do you think the difference is in the details - someone is more qualified because of licensure but not necessarily more competent? Another student asked about the role of continuing education - does this help people become more competent? Or, are we discussing things that makes someone more qualified BUT no necessarily more competent?
