I would like to speak to my own leadership, where I am presently employed. This particular person is one of my driving factors to learn more about the positive direction and effectively and successfully lead people. This person, sadly, is the worst boss I have ever worked for. They "inherited" the position from the experienced person I hired, which is likely why I will leave this department. They both exhibit Neuroticism and Agreeableness. The neuroticism is apparently daily, reflecting in their insecurities in leadership and dealing with people from different backgrounds. Creating a culture of favoritism displays their agreeableness to those who she believes are favored to her benefit. It is a truly low morale, low incentive, and quiet productivity environment based on the above qualities. Having a boss as a "yes man" who is not open to criticism is challenging. This is their first management position, and it indeed shows, having the neurotic quality of anxiousness, insecure, vulnerable. Yet, hostility is exhausting and has already driven several employees to leave. My suggestion for improvement is to swallow their pride and seek a mentor. When the person in charge, with no experience, gained this position purely due to favoritism and not experiences or qualifications, it is a recipe for disaster.
