During the next two years, they saved money and were able to buy their dream house for $150,000 with a $15,000 down payment. It was expensive and they could barely afford the house payment, especially with the required private mortgage insurance costs of $200 per month. As soon as they moved into their home, they found out they were expecting. It was twins! Once they were born, Juan and Eva struggled to pay the mortgage, their other bills and the childcare expenses. They decided to have Eva stay at home and open a home day care business. Six months later, Eva's mom became ill. She was no longer to care for herself. Juan and Eva chose to have Eva's mom move in with them rather than go to a nursing home. The day care children and their families really liked having her at home and seeing her during the clay, they called her "abuelita". Not long afterwards, Juan got a notice that he would lose his job as part of a reduction in the workforce at his company.
