The Covid -19 pandemic hit higher education harder than many might have expected, and nowhere have the odds stacked higher than in Africa. The continent plays home to one of the world's fastest-growing markets for higher education. Yet over the past few years, the relevance of higher education in Africa has come into question. A report by one recruiter recently asserted just one in four African graduates were adequately prepared for the world of work.

In Zambia, for stance, recruiters and accreditation bodies specifically called into question the quality of higher education. The Higher Education Authority (HEA) Board of Directors, therefore, decided it was time for a serious reassessment of the quality of education in the country.

As part of the above-mentioned exercise, your institution, a private University has nominated you to be part of a task team to be appointed by the HEA to address the issue of quality of higher education in Zambia.

As a first step towards addressing the problem the Higher Education Authority has organized a training programme, which you have been privileged to attend, on the implementation of a Quality Management System based on the ISO 9001:2015 standard.

Required:

Upon returning from the training, the Vice Chancellor of your institution has tasked with the responsibility of introducing the ISO 9001:2015 standard in the University. You are therefore required to:

1. conduct a preliminary gap analysis.
2. draft the first ever Quality Manual for the University in line with the requirements of the standard.
