This lab is an exploration of weather data from Olympia, WA. It will require you to use the exploratory analysis tools we covered in Modules 1 and 2 as well as what you learned about data manipulation in the two online R courses. It is part of Module 3, but is due one week later than the material in Module 4. I assume that many of you will encounter some issues and need clarification, and the extra weeks will allow for that. Please don't hesitate to ask.
The lab is based on the techniques in three exercise sets I placed in Canvas. You must work through these before you do the lab.
1. One Categorical Variable in Module 1
2. One Quantitative Variable in Module 1
3. Exercises on Relationships in Module 2
The file "Doing Lab 2" contains code examples for each situation you will encounter. You should copy-paste this code into your document and make whatever changes are appropriate.
Use Lab 2 July 4 22.Rmd Download Lab 2 July 4 22.Rmdas the starting point for your work. Rename the file according to the usual naming convention after you download it and import it into RStudio. I would save my file using the name NelsonHLab2.rmd. The data is in the file, OAW.Rdata Download OAW.Rdata, which you should download from here. Submit your completed lab here. The file you submit must be a docx or pdf file produced by the Knitr in RStudio. Do not attempt to copy-paste results into this file.
I have produced a series of three brief videos to help you use the R Markdown feature in RStudio These files were created a few years ago with a different version of this lab. View them for advice on the use of R Markdown.
