This week you learned about various methods of hypothesis testing. We can see hypothesis testing as the process of making a statement and then support or reject it with data. Very commonly hypothesis testing is used to test a statement derived from a previous studies, general beliefs or theoretical expectations.
Directions:
In the initial post come up with two hypotheses in any publicly known business domain. For each hypothesis:
- Provide a rationale why you formulate it. The rationale should be based on previous published studies, referenced general beliefs, or theories. You should not be using data that can be used to test the hypotheses as a rationale.
- Formulate the alternative hypotheses.
DO NOT provide any dataset to test the hypothesis, but you should have one on mind, as you may be asked to provide it by the instructor if no students will be able to identify a proper dataset (see the requirement for the responses).
In your responses identify the possible dataset (with a link) that can be used to test two of the other student's hypothesis. Describe the variables in that dataset that may be used and what statistical method should be used.
