Thomas spends a lot of time in his garden, reading. He decides to buy a garden table and some chairs. The salesman at Modern furniture Pte Ltd shows him a wooden table and chairs and tells him that they are of very good quality and are suitable for outdoor use.

Thomas asks the salesman whether it can withstand heavy rain. The salesman assures him that it would be suitable for outdoor use and would withstand heavy rain.

He signs an invoice without reading it and the terms of the contract states the following. "Modern Furniture will not be held responsible for any representation or promises made as to the quality of the goods sold".

After a month of use of the table in the garden, Thomas notices that the table remains moist and has cracked in some places. The wood in fact is not suitable for outdoor use.
