(THOUGHTS?) Given that UBER only implemented safety initiatives after the sexual assault claims were made public with the CNN investigation, and the fact that they were fined millions of dollars for not properly disclosing the true number of filed and paid lawsuits, I think that safety was an afterthought. I can be somewhat empathetic with UBER in some regards though. As an entrepreneur, it is extremely difficult to plan and try to mitigate every possible issue that may arise out of your business, and sometimes being reactionary is the only way to handle a situation. I think that UBER's reputation and prevention of assaults could have been prevented if they had acted after the earliest claims. Not implementing a formal safety plan until probes into the company occurred, implies that they only cared about the effects of the assault claims on their business and not for the customers and employees that it happened to.
