They made it possible to watch a few videos and based on time watch it made an ideal feed for you to keep watching similar content you enjoy. Some countries banned it because of the threat of how many people can access it. A big moment was when Donald Trump announced he wanted to ban the app. This brought confusion to people. The idea stemmed from Americans are consuming junk content as opposed to china seeing educational content due to Tik Tok could expand globally more if they highlight how the app is not just about watching memes or funny videos. They should have an organization in each country deliver the pitch differently because globally there is going to be cultural difference and skepticism, so it should be delivered appropriately. There is going to be people getting addicted to watching it so a change in algorithm may need to be tweaked.
