To complete this activity you will need to do the following:

1. Research best practice in the delivery of legal services. You should:
   • commence your research with the readings from the Essential Resources
   • supplement this with your own research using an online search engine or any other research tool. The website of the College's Centre for Legal Innovation may provide examples of emerging and innovative approaches to the delivery of legal services
   • if you know a lawyer, talk to them and get their tips on what constitutes best practice in delivering legal services - some specific examples of successful approaches they have used would be helpful
   • ask these relevant questions:
     • What processes are used to deal with legal problems, matters or legal issues?
     • What law office personnel are involved to ensure the delivery of these legal services to clients?
     • Consider the roles of receptionists, paralegals, IT, practice managers and other support staff, as well as those of junior and senior lawyers.
     • What are the main areas of risk?
     • How do you think the processes for the delivery of legal services to clients could be improved?
   • make notes of the results of your research.
2. Conduct a video interview (approximately 30 minutes) with your allocated practitioner mentor. During the interview you should discuss the questions listed above with your mentor, ask for some examples and compare their answers with the results of your own research. Your mentor will contact you to arrange the interview.
3. In a Word document (750 words) which you will submit to complete this activity, outline the results of your research and provide a report on what was discussed in the interview with your mentor, including specific examples. Be careful to anonymise the details of any example that your mentor might share with you. For example clients should be described as Person A, B or C, and solicitors can be described as Solicitor 1, 2 or 3.
