Societies are both dynamic and delicate. They can expand and contract, stand together or fall apart. What stops them from falling apart is a concept referred to as social cohesion. Social cohesion is often described as the glue which holds society together. Historically, cohesiveness comes from many dilferent aspects of humanity. In this unit, you are exploring the notion of what social cohesion looks like, what threatens communities and what protects them. You are to investigate an aspect or aspects of cohesive societies based on a sub-discipline of senior Humanities selected by your teacher (Geography, Legal Studies, AncienUModem History, Economics) and create a report which evaluates the selected aspect(s) through the creation of research questions and a responsive hypothesis. To complete this task, you must: 0 Select an aspect of social cohesion: For example Shared culture Political structures Geographical boundaries Law Functioning economies 0 Select a particular case study through which to investigate this aspect 0 Investigate this case study by developing research questions (including a Key Inquiry Question (KIQ) and 3 Sub-questions) that allow you to: A) explain how the aspect(s) you selected secures a cohesive society B) identify threats to the selected aspect(s) including what causedlis causing the threat to occur, and what impact it hadfhas on the society C) Analysing and evaluating appropriate evidence of the aspect and the threat to it which you can present in report form 0 Formulate a hypothesis in response to your KIQ + Sub-questions and ndings 0 Create a structured report that compiles your research and ndings this should include a Title page, Contents Page, List of Tables and Figures, Reference list and Appendix (if required) El Term 4 Week 3: Consult with your teacher around your chosen threat, case study and how you plan to approach your investigation including your Inquiry questions Term 4 Week 4: Check in with your teacher around research collected and direction of investigation.
