Understanding Drip Rates in Nursing

1. make a table of 20 patients and calculate the drip rates (gtt/min) for their IV solutions. Columns of the table must include: patient #, flow rate (mL/h), drop factor (gtt/mL) and drops per minute (gtt/min). Note that your randomly created table of 20 patients will be different from your colleagues.
2. make a frequency table to summarize the drops per minute (gtt/min) obtained in task 1.
3. Interpret the results of task 2, determine the data type, and describe the level of measurement for drops per minutes (gtt/min).
4. Consider that instead of creating this dataset, you collected the data from actual patients. Determine the type of sampling used in that case.

Submit a written report (pdf) containing your responses to the tasks outlined above. Include clear and concise explanations of key terms and sampling methods, as well as well-organized frequency tables and graphical displays of the data collected. Your report should demonstrate your ability to interpret and analyze the data collected/created.
