A local hospital has asked you to design a database to maintain the following information about their patients and hospital staff:

Each patient has an ID, a name, an address, and insurance.

Each patient is assigned to a ward (room).

Hospital staff includes doctors and nurses.

Each doctor is identified by an ID, a name, an address, and a license

Each nurse is characterized by an ID, a name, an address, and a certification

Each nurse is assigned to zero or more wards. Each ward has at least one nurse assigned.

Each doctor is assigned to zero or more patients. A patient may or may not have a doctor assigned, and they may have more than one doctor.

Patients in the same ward may have different doctors but will always have the same nurse(s).

Define a generalization hierarchy based on the similarities between the 2 types of hospital staff.

The following scenario is developed based on the real records kept by Boston Housing Authority. Imagine that BHA has asked you to develop a database to keep track of the residents in their developments over time. The database needs to capture the facts below:

BHA has three public housing developments. You want to record their names, locations, the year they opened, and their height in stories.

For each unit in the development, you want to keep track of the number of bedrooms, the number of bathrooms, whether the unit has a kitchen or living room, and the square footage.

You should keep track of the households living in the units. For each member of a household, you want to record their name, date of birth, sex, and indicate whether or not they are the head of the household (more than one person can share that distinction).

You also want to keep track of when a household moved into and out of a particular unit. You want to be able to follow households as they move from one unit to another or from one development to another.
