Use @Risk addin for Excel to solve the following scenario. Be sure to show all your work.
A rancher works with a local farmer in California and are discussing feed for the ranchers cattle herd. They are looking at 2 feed crops, corn and barley. Corn contains 25% protein and the barley contains 8% protein. Each of them contains 100,000 kCals. Since the environment and global warming are so volatile right now the yield rates for crops in very uncertain but the yeids per hectare in 100kg are calculated below:
Herbicides 1 and 2 are uncertain variables which simulate whether the control was successful or not, and the Rainfall is the amount of rain the land got.
The rancher and the farm sit down to decide which would be the best course of action, planting all corn, all barley, or split 50-50. The farmer has 100 hectares allocated for the rancher.
Corn yield = 0.025 * RainFall + Herbicide1 - 4.65
Barley yield = 0.008 * RainFall + Herbicide2 + 7.48
The uncertainty table below is normally-distributed
mean | Standard Dev | |
Herbicide 1 | 0 | 10 |
Herbicide 2 | 0 | 10 |
Rainfall | 350.5 | 45 |
1a. Based upon the @Risk Simulation of (n=1000), How much of each crop should be planted to maximize the protein amount grown?
Save the sensitivity analysis report.
1b. If the rancher 3 towns over requires 8000 kg of protein produced for his herd how much of each crop should be planted to create the best chance of meeting the requirements?
use the same N=1000
