Jane, a freelance writer, wrote an article in which she stated: "The only certainty about Mr. Zan is that he is a liar." Mr. Zan sued for libel. Jane's witness, Robert, had worked with Mr. Zan for twenty years. Robert testified that Mr. Zan had a reputation for dishonesty. Robert then listed several specific instances when Mr. Zan has lied during when they worked together. Assuming a sufficient foundation of Robert's personal knowledge, is the reputation evidence admissible? What about the specific instances of lying?
