It was in firm X when John eventually made it to his workplace, the clock read 8:00 o'clock in the morning. When he arrived, he was taken aback to see that Mary, his employer, was already there. "Good morning, John," she greeted him. "I hope your day is going well." "There's something really essential that I want to discuss with you," the message said. John's stomach dropped to its lowest point. He was aware that Mary would only invite him into her office for very important discussions when she needed his assistance. She asked, "Would you please sit down?" "Thank you." John sat down and got ready for the terrible news that was about to be told. "I'm sorry to be the one to tell you this, but we'll have to free you from your responsibilities." John seemed to be in a state of shock. In the five years that he had worked for the firm, he had never once been the recipient of any kind of constructive criticism. The question that he posed to her was, "Can you tell me why?" Mary expressed her disappointment by stating, "It's simply not going to work out." "The quality of your work has been declining, and you consistently fail to meet the deadlines set for you. We have provided you with a number of opportunities to improve your skills, but it seems that you are not taking use of them." John's state of mind was a complete disaster. He was completely oblivious to the fact that his job quality has been declining. He was certain that he had given it his best effort during the whole process. He questioned if there was anything he could say or do to sway her decision. "Is there anything I can do to alter your mind?" Mary expressed her regret, but she replied with a negative answer. "Unfortunately, I have to tell you that the choice has already been made." John grabbed his belongings and then went out of the workplace while he was still in a confused state. He had never been terminated from a job before and had no idea what to do in the situation.
