Value 6.5 8.5 QUESTION 2 Mohd Aminudin Mohd Zaibani, who runs an aquaculture business breeding freshwater fish in open ponds since 2009, went through various challenges when the fish he farmed died in large numbers. Raising fresh fish is quite challenging because natural factors such as temperature, pH level and dissolved oxygen content in the pond water can affect the number and quality of livestock. He currently owns 7 land ponds in Sabak Bernam, Selangor. To overcome the problem, Mohd Aminudin met with officials from the Sabak Bernam Agriculture Office to seek advice. As a result of discussions with the agriculture officer, he advised Mohd Aminudin to manage the water quality from time to time in all his fish ponds. The following are the water quality parameters proposed by the Office of Agriculture to minimize fish mortality and promote fish growth. Parameters Minimum temperature 25 C Maximum temperature 32 C Minimum pH Maximum pH Minimum dissolved oxygen The following are the actions that need to be taken by Mohd Aminudin to his fish pond if the values of water quality parameters are less than or exceed the values set by the Agriculture Office. Value Action Temperature less than 25 C Reduce the quantity of pool water. Temperature more than 32 C Install black net. Increase the flow rate of pool water. pH less than 6.5 Sprinkle lime into the pond. pH more than 8.5 Replace fresh water into the pond. Dissolved oxygen less than 5.0 ppm Install blower. Activate the Sub Messeble pump. Add water continuously. Create a complete program to help Mohd Aminudin manage his fish ponds according to the recommendations from the Agriculture Office. The program developed should have the following characteristics: i. Using structures to store water quality parameter values from the Office of Agriculture. ii. Record the values of the parameters taken at each pool i.e. temperature, pH and dissolved oxygen into an array 5.0 ppm
