Video Streaming over a Gigabit Ethernet Backbone Network: Performance Study Investigation: Effect of increasing the number of wireless video clients on system performance Modelling the Network: Consider a Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) backbone switch connected to five subnets (Ethernet switches). Each subnet can support up to 20 nodes (for optimum performance). So, if you are simulating a network with 100 nodes, your network model should have 5 subnets (20 nodes/subnet) linked to a GbE backbone. Task 1: Develop a network model to simulate 50 wired video clients. Configure the network to measure the following performance metrics (a) Video Throughput. (b) Video end-to-end delays. (c) Video packet losses. Task 2: You can add wireless video clients in the above wired GbE backbone network (See Task 1 above). Investigate the following three Scenarios. Scenario 1: 10 wireless video clients Scenario 2: 30 wireless video clients Scenario 3: 50 wireless video clients Task 3: For each Scenario (see Task 2 above), configure the network to measure the following performance metrics: (a) Video Throughput. (b) Video end-to-end delays; and (c) Video packet losses. Task 4: Comparative study Scenario 1 2 3 Wired nodes 50 50 50 Wireless nodes 10 30 50 Video Throughput (bps) Performance metrics: (a) Video Throughput. (b) Video end-to-end delays.
