We will test if there is a significant difference between the means of two populations. We can assume population 1 the bilingual students with population mean denoted as 1 and population 2 the monolingual students with population mean denoted as 2. The population mean that we are talking about here is the adolescents' social intelligence.

Null Hypothesis, H0: 1=2

There is no significant difference between the adolescents' social intelligence between the bilingual and monolingual students.

Alternative Hypothesis, H1: 12

There is a significant difference between the adolescents' social intelligence between the bilingual and monolingual students.

Based on the above information, I am trying to come up with hypothetical findings... I need to put some "hypothetical data" into SPSS, but I am wondering how to go about it.

Would i just make up the following table and input into SPSS?

The scores are based off of the Tromso Social Intelligence Scale where each subscale is based on 7 items on a 7-point scale; thus, they have possible scores between 7 and 49.

So could I make a table like this in SPSS for 30 participants, one for monolinguals and one for bilinguals?

5 variables = Participant ID, Gender, Age, Social Information, Social Skills, Social Awareness

Then I could compare those two tables using the two samples t-test?
