What is a good peer response to this discussion post?

I have worked in retail for over twenty years and have seen some supply chain practices that blow my mind both positively and negatively. Two positive impacts I have seen are proper distribution of seasonal freight and full trucks going to stores. The distribution center that services my store releases 90% of the seasonal merchandise about 10 days before its time to set the season. That way you aren't sitting on excessive freight clogging the backroom and making it hard to service customers. Also, they send out the trucks packed so you aren't receiving multiple trucks, driving up distribution costs, which keep costs low so we can transfer that into low prices for the customers. Two negative impacts I have seen are mislabel packages and low visibility into incoming trucks. Mislabel packages haven't gotten any better in my area and can lead to customers being upset because it said we got shipped one thing, but we got another. This affects in-stock and customer perception. Low visibility into incoming trucks affects planning. If you do not have a good plan to work the trucks that come in, then you have freight sitting that a customer cannot buy, again affecting in-stock.

Individual associates can start improving efficiency by unloading trucks properly to mitigate product damage and loss. Sometimes the first mistake is the costliest. Secondly, they can keep an eye out for mis-labels and report them as soon as they see them to correct the in-stock and keep replenishment flowing properly. Finally, they can work the freight properly and ensure that they work it to the correct location. Improperly working freight, especially at a company that has a computer program monitoring in-stock, could lead to unnecessary freight and issues with customer service.
