Purpose

The purpose of this assignment is to identify theories, perspectives and validity of child development issues in every day articles published in popular magazines.

Learning Outcomes

1. Evaluate the unique contributions of traditional theoretical perspectives as well as the foundations of child development toward interpreting child growth and behavior.

3. Explain the holistic development of the child to include the inter-play amongst domains of development.

4. Illustrate respect for diversity and fairness in all contexts related to children and their families.

5. Outline critical periods in the child's development

6. Determine how early child development sets the foundation for lifelong learning, behaviour and health through understanding the whole child

General Overview

Students are required to complete a chart in order to explain the links between the popular magazine readings and course material.
